Florida Gators to host two prospects

The Florida Gators and head coach Jim McElwain will finally get to host official visitors on campus for the first time since the South Carolina game this weekend. This weekend will be made even greater due to the fact that it includes the football banquet.

While the campus won’t be full of prospects, the Gators will host one committed prospect and one JUCO offensive line prospect that is committed elsewhere.

McElwain would’ve loved to have more prospects on campus this weekend but his late arrival stopped that from happening. Nonetheless, this was a successful first week for Jim McElwain.

One commit visiting

The Mac Train, as I like to call Coach McElwain, will get to finally meet receiver commit Kalif Jackson this weekend as the Neptune Beach, FL native is the lone Florida commit visiting the Gators.

Jackson did have a great conversation with McElwain on Sunday where Mac informed the prospect that he liked him more at receiver than tight end, which was fine with Jackson.

This weekend is more a fun and relaxing weekend for Jackson as he’s as solid to Florida as you can ask for a prospect to be. However, this will be an opportunity for him to learn more about Coach Mac and to also recruit another prospect to Florida.

Oklahoma State commit visiting

Will Muschamp was known as flipper for his ability to flip prospects that were committed elsewhere but if Jim McElwain has his say then he will be known as flipper part two.

McElwain will have his first shot this weekend when Oklahoma State JUCO offensive line commit Brandon Pertile (6-6, 300, Mesa, AZ Mesa C.C.) visits Florida.

Pertile also has a chance to be the first prospect to commit to McElwain as the Gators are in good shape for the Florida native. Pertile would also feel a big need for Florida on the offensive line as the Gators are in huge need of depth at the position.

The one bad thing is that Pertile is coming off of a knee injury that will likely force him to sit out until the summer.
