Dickerson a new name on the Florida Gators recruiting board

ORLANDO- Offensive lineman Landon Dickerson (6-5, 297, Hudson, NC South Caldwell) is a new name on the Florida Gators recruiting board after the Gators visited him at his school earlier in December.

Dickerson, who is just now getting to know the Florida Gators coaches, plans to visit the Gators on January 15th and he explained why he will take that visit.

“They’re education opportunities there and then just the coaching staff coming
to talk to me and convincing me to visit,” Dickerson said. “They did a good job of convincing me about the school and coming there.”

Florida Gators tight end coach Greg Nord was the coach that visited Dickerson at his school and he told him about a need for offensive linemen at Florida.

“He just kind of told me that they have a need for tackles and that I would be a great fit to come down there,” Dickerson said. “Obviously being able to come in and compete right away is intriguing to me.”

Offensive line coach Mike Summers has also talked to the North Carolina prospect about the Florida Gators recruiting needs at offensive line.

“I called him a couple weeks ago, right before the dead period and talked to him,” Dickerson said of Summers. “He kind of told me that they really need me down there, that they’re short on the depth chart and there’s an opportunity to play
right away.”

The Gators are a team that is behind in recruiting the offensive lineman but Dickerson says that they still have a chance.

Obviously they do,” Dickerson said if Florida has a chance. “I’m taking an official visit to them even though they came in this process so late, I really want to see everything. I guess facilities, coaching staff, everything.”

Dickerson has already used an official visit to Auburn and Florida State and plans to take three official visits in January.

“I’m going to visit Alabama on the 22nd,” Dickerson said. “I’m deciding on either Tennessee or Georgia for the 29th.

INSIDERS TAKE: Dickerson seems pretty open on his recruitment but I would say that Florida State would be the pick today but he sees a big opportunity at Florida for early playing time. Obviously the official visit to Florida will be huge for the Gators chances.
