Davis impressed by DBU and Florida Gators offer

The Florida Gators coaching staff has been busy both on the field and off the field this week as the offers have been going out in bunches this week.

On Wednesday, Gators defensive backs coach Corey Bell offered 2019 defensive back Jaden Davis (5-11, 165, Fort Lauderdale, FL. St. Thomas Aquinas) after seeing him at his school.

“Coach Bell offered me,” Davis said. “He was not able to talk to me because I’m a 2019 guy but I was relayed the message by Coach [Roger] Harriott] today after he left the school.”

This is the 17th offer for Davis but the defensive back admits that the Gators offer is a special one.

“It’s a game changer to have a school like Florida that produces such great defensive backs to the NFL offer you,” Davis said of the Florida. “I have high interest in them. It’s DBU, who wouldn’t want to go there.”

Since Bell wasn’t able to speak directly to Davis on Wednesday, the defensive back got Bell’s message from his head coach.

“Coach Harriott told me what he said,” he said of Bell’s message. “He said that he was impressed with the way I look and that they were going to offer me today [Wednesday].”

The offer from Florida was one that surprised Davis because he hasn’t talked to the Gators a lot except for one coach.

“I haven’t talked to them,” Davis said of his talks with Florida. “I have spoken to Coach Bell before because he offered me when he was at FAU and now at Florida. I have a good relationship with him as of right now.”

Bell and Davis do know a good bit about each other and the 2019 prospect thinks a lot of Florida’s assistant coach.

“He is a great coach and a great man,” he said of Bell. “He is a teacher on the field and off the field and he teaches you great life lessons. He showed that a lot during a camp at FAU last summer.”

Davis hasn’t visited Gainesville yet but he says that will change very soon.

“I plan to get up there soon so I can continue to build a relationship with Coach Bell,” Davis said. “I want to meet everyone.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Davis says he doesn’t have any leaders or anything like that and he doesn’t have a timetable for a decision. Florida definitely made a big impression on him by offering him on Wednesday though.
