Danley to officially visit the Florida Gators

The Florida Gators haven’t had a lot of success recruiting offensive linemen during the Will Muschamp era but the Class of 2015 has a chance to be his best one as several top notch prospects are favoring the Florida Gators.

Next Saturday when the Gators play host to South Carolina the coaching staff will play host to an official visitor in JUCO offensive lineman Jamal Danley (6-5, 305, Scooba, MS East Mississippi C.C.) who is committed to Oklahoma but talks to Florida a lot.

“I’ve been talking to Florida a few times a week lately,” Danley said. “I usually talk to Coach [Will] Muschamp about Florida and about the team. He just tells me that he wants me to get out there and visit them and that he has a spot for me and needs me. He said he wants me to get a feel for the coaches and the players.”

Danley who will arrive in Gainesville on Friday says he has a few things that he wants to see on his official visit.

“I’m taking my official visit to Florida this weekend for when they play South Carolina,” Danley said. “I’m looking forward to meeting the coaches and seeing the campus and the facilities they have. I also want to see what kind of atmosphere they have around there and see how the players are.”

Muschamp has made sure to explain the need for tackles in this class and Danley is listening.

“Coach Muschamp says that he wants me as a tackle,” Danley said. “He said that their offense is getting better but that they are losing some linemen and that I have a good opportunity to play early if I choose Florida. That’s something I’m looking for.”

Danley who visited Oklahoma in September and committed says that two SEC schools are talking to him but one more than another.

“I’m still committed to Oklahoma but I’m keeping my options open,” Danley said. “Right now Florida is the school recruiting me the hardest besides Oklahoma. Auburn has one of my teammates playing for them and they’ve been talking to me a little bit.”

With Danley keeping his options open and his upcoming visit to Florida this weekend the JUCO lineman has to make a quick decision as he will signing his letter of intent in December.

“I enroll in January so that I can play spring ball at the school I choose,” Danley said. “I want to make my final decision by the end of November but I don’t really have a set date. I’ll just make my decision when I feel it’s right.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Danley isn’t that solid to Oklahoma and he caught many by surprise when he made that commitment. I don’t think he makes any kind of decision this weekend but he does see a big opportunity at Florida and he’s from Mississippi so he likes the SEC.
