Daniels impressed by the Florida Gators coaching staff

Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullen is known for his development of quarterbacks and this spring he has hosted several quarterback prospects on campus.

This week, Mullen and his staff hosted quarterback Jayden Daniels (6-3, 170, San Bernardino, CA. Cajon) on campus for a two day visit.

“It was a solid visit, good visit,” Daniels said about his visit to Florida. “We visited the campus, talked to all of the coaches, took a campus tour and took pictures.”

While on campus Daniels got the chance to speak with several current players including a quarterback.
“We hung out with a couple of the freshmen players,” he said. “I talked to Emory [Jones], he’s cool. He was just telling me about how it’s in the transition and about Coach [Brian] Johnson and Coach [Dan] Mullen.”

Quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson spoke at length with Daniels about why the Gators want him and about the Florida offense.

“He was saying that I got the offense,” Daniels said on Johnson’s message to him. “He said that he likes the way I can make plays and I can fit the offense.”

Mullen also spoke with Daniels about his history with quarterbacks and what he’s trying to build at Florida.

“He talked about the family atmosphere that he wants at Florida,” he said on Mullen’s message to him. “He was talking about the quarterback development he has had and what he could do for me.”

Daniels has done his research on Mullen and a few things catch his attention with the head coach’s background.

“His resume speaks for itself,” Daniels said on Mullen’s history. “He has proven he can win at the highest level and that’s something that intrigues me.”

Heading into the visit, Daniels knew what he wanted to see out of the visit and he says the visit lived up to expectations.

“It was good, it’s Florida,” he said on his impressions of Florida now that he has been on campus. “It was what I kind of expected from them.”

After the visit, Daniels had high praise for the Gators but remains open in his recruitment.

“No leaders,” Daniels said. “I don’t know when I’m going to decide.”

INSIDERS TAKE: USC is the team talked about the most with Daniels but the quarterback continues to say his recruitment is open. Florida is a school that has caught his attention but the Gators will need to get him back on campus again.
