Cowart believes in the University of Florida

Defensive end Byron Cowart (6-3, 252, Seffner, FL Armwood) was one of many top recruits that were in the Swamp on Saturday to watch the Florida Gators take on the LSU Tigers.

Cowart was able to witness the crazy loud atmosphere that the Florida fans provided and he believes it was one of the best he has witnessed.

“It was a good atmosphere out there,” Cowart said. “It was one of the loudest atmosphere I’ve seen. It was good just a good time there.”

During the game Cowart payed close attention to the defense and more importantly to his good friend Dante Fowler, as he plays the position that Cowart is being recruited to play.

“The defense played good like always,” Cowart said. “Fowler played really good but nobody really played that bad on defense. The defense always plays great for Florida.”

Despite the good defensive performance from Fowler the Gators came up short on Saturday night and Cowart believes it was just a few miscues.

“It was a great game that came down to the very end,” Cowart said. “Just a lot of missed opportunities that cost them the game. It was a good game though.”

After the game Cowart was able to talk to Will Muschamp about the loss and Muschamp told him what to expect from the Florida Gators the rest of the year.

“Coach Muschamp said that Florida has to control what they can control and that’s it,” Cowart said. “He said that they can’t let this LSU loss cost them two games by having a bad week of practice this week. He said that Florida is going finish out the season on a winning note.”

This week was a long painful one for the Florida Gators program as they had to deal with Treon Harris situation but Cowart believes the team handled the adversity well.

“Florida had a great game despite being mentally torn with all of the Treon stuff going on,” Cowart said. “I think they handled the adversity well despite the situation this week.”

Cowart has been trying to set up his official visits for weeks now and he will finally takes his first one next week.

“I have an official to Alabama next week for the Texas A&M game,” Cowart said. “I think I have a date for the Oregon official but I’m still moving stuff around right now. I’m still trying to figure out my other officials but Florida will probably get an official.”

After the disappointing loss on Saturday rumors of Will Muschamp being on an even hotter seat grew but Cowart says he doesn’t pay attention to it and Florida is still Florida.

“I don’t pay attention to it because it doesn’t have anything to do with me,” Cowart said. “I’m never going to go to a school for a coach. I’m interested in the University of Florida and the program not just a coach. I would be interested in the University of Florida regardless. Florida is a winning program so if any coaches were to leave Florida would find a good coach.”

The Florida Gators and Will Muschamp still have months to prove to Cowart the Gainesville is the place for him as Cowart is waiting to decide.

“I don’t have a leader right now, everybody is even,” Cowart said. “I’m still announcing at the Under Armour Game.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Cowart is very mature for his age and he speaks like someone that has done his homework here but at the end of the day I truly believe that he will choose a school for just that the school not a coach.

  1. Let’s hope Cowart doesn’t also think Fowler played well. Once again, although not quite as bad as last year. La ‘el Collins dominated Fowler. It was very noticeable where LSU had success running the football, and it was right at and over Fowler.
