The Florida Gators recruiting efforts haven’t gone the way everyone has hoped for so far in 2015, but have no fear as it’s only November.
Not only is it November but also the Gators now have a quarterback in Treon Harris that Will Muschamp and his staff can showcase on the field to get prospects excited to play with him on offense and as Muschamp said Harris could help the South Florida area as well as other areas this year.
“The quarterback position is different than every other position – can help you,” Muschamp said. “Dante Fowler has helped us a lot in recruiting. I think Jon Bullard and Matt Jones and Demarcus Robinson and Rod Johnson…I think any player who comes wherever they come from and have success in your program on and off the field, that helps you. But certainly the quarterback position, especially from that area, coming here and having success is outstanding.”
With that being said, Gator Country is going to look at the remaining offensive playmakers that Florida is recruiting and update where the Florida Gators stand with them.
Running back Johnny Frasier- Frasier is currently committed to Florida State but North Carolina State, Tennessee and Florida are all battling for the 5-11, 220-pound back. Frasier is planning to take an official visit to Florida after the season but right now Tennessee looks to be in the best shape for him.
Running back Nyheim Hines- Hines is an electric playmaker who is high on North Carolina State and Duke but plans to take an official visit to Florida. Hines and his twin sister want to go to the same school — as she runs track — and most schools have offered both of them. Right now I see Hines heading to North Carolina State unless Florida can blow him away on his official visit.
Running back Ray-Ray McCloud-The Clemson commit McCloud has been on the Florida Gators campus this fall and much like the other top offensive prospects he’s looking for stability at Florida and an offense that is productive. McCloud plans to take an official visit to Florida in December and this will be huge for Florida.
Running back Dexter Williams- Williams is currently committed to Miami but Notre Dame and Florida are battling for him. Williams will travel to Notre Dame next weekend for an official visit and plans to visit Florida after the season. Williams is looking for something positive from Florida as his family prefers the Gators over everyone else.
Receiver Deon Cain- The Clemson commit has been very vocal about how much he likes Treon Harris but Cain has yet to visit Florida this fall and says he isn’t sure whether or not he will visit or not. The 6-1, 190-pound receiver is one of the best receiver’s in the state and the Florida Gators will continue to try and get him on campus.
Receiver Antonio Callaway- Callaway is from Booker T. high school in Miami and plays for Treon Harris’ brother there. Callaway likes Florida a lot but Miami and Florida State are also in the mix. Right now, however, I believe that the Gators are the leaders as Callaway looks to start taking visits after the season.
Receiver Ryan Davis- Davis is the cousin of Dante Fowler and has been to Florida far more than anywhere else and is very close with defensive end Byron Cowart. Davis is an explosive slot receiver that can also be a return man and play wildcat quarterback. Maryland and Florida State are the two teams to watch besides Florida but right now I consider the Gators the top team for the Tampa receiver.
Receiver Javarius Davis- Florida and Georgia look to be the top two teams here for Davis who can play the slot receiver position as well as the running position. Davis has been to Florida several times this fall but the Georgia offer has turned things towards the Bulldogs as of late. Interesting enough Georgia wants Davis at cornerback and Florida wants him on offense. Davis will have a decision to make soon.
Receiver Derrick Dillon- Is committed to Florida and is a solid commit. Dillon is having a great year by accounting for 22 touchdowns and showing off his speed. Dillon is a playmaker that the Florida Gators are glad to have in this class.
Receiver K.J. Hill- The Arkansas commit visited the Florida Gators for the LSU game and liked it a lot and has plans to get back to Florida for another visit with his family. Right now Hill looks to be a tough flip because of the homestate commitment to Arkansas but getting him back on campus again would be huge.
Receiver Van Jefferson- Jefferson is a Georgia commit but has been communicating with the Florida Gators weekly as of late and has said he wants to take an official visit to Florida. Jefferson is from the Jacksonville area and has family still in the state of Florida plus Jefferson has said that he thinks he can play very early at Florida if he chooses the Gators. Jefferson is a prospect that I think if he visits, the Gators have a decent shot at flipping him.
