Brown ready to decide on Friday

Will Muschamp and his coaching staff have a busy week ahead of them in regards to hosting prospects on campus and it started on Monday.

On Monday the Gators played host to offensive lineman George Brown (6-5, 264, Cincinnati, OH Winton Woods) who received the full red carpet treatment from the coaching staff.

“I got a chance to watch the 6 A.M. runs and then watch the team lift,” Brown said. “I was able to check out some other things that I didn’t get to look at the previous times I was there. I got to see the dinning hall the dorms and things like that. After that was over I got to talk with the coaches.”

During the conversations with the different coaches one message stuck out to Brown and that was from Will Muschamp.

“Coach Muschamp said that I’m looking good now,” Brown said. “He said that they want me at Florida and that I would really fit into the offense down there.”

After Brown talked with Muschamp he went over to chat it up with Mike Summers in his office where the two talked offensive line play.

“I really like him he knows a lot. We sat down and went over some football stuff,” Brown said. “I believe I can really learn to be a better player from him.”

Brown is already very comfortable with Summers due to his family having prior connections to the veteran offensive line coach.

“It helps that he and my dad have a previous relationship,” Brown said. “Coach Summers recruited my older brother when he was at Louisville so I have a good connection with him.”

Over the past few months Brown has been trying to get a better feel for Florida, so he’s been communicating with some of Florida’s players.

“I’ve been talking to them about Florida so that I could build those relationships,” Brown said. “It seems like they are ready to get things back rolling down there this year.”

Brown will make his decision at 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon and will decide between Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Alabama and Georgia.

INSIDER TAKE: I fully believe that Brown will choose Florida on Friday due his relationship with the coaches plus his relationship with Florida linebacker commit Jerome Baker.

  1. Good to know that we are looking at the quality of players that other big time colleges are looking at.
It seems that he has offers from other schools that are highly ranked.
Any idea as to his plus sides? Does he have good lateral movement for an offensive lineman?
Good footwork? He seems a bit under weight but I know the coaches know their stuff, especially Summers.
PS: (I know that a lot of recruits have their pictures taken in front of the “Gator Head Logo” that is on these white doors. By gosh… lets get those doors touched up. Looking kind of scuffed up at the bottom.)

  2. I’m wondering if UF is in danger of having a really bad year, by Florida standards, in recruiting. This past week has seen two guyschange their mind about coming to Florida. We’ve also seen Austin Bryant and Abdul Bello choose other schools, guys that were previously listed as probable to Florida. Now UF is down to eight pledges, while all the competitors are in double digits. I know it’s early, but the momentum is pointing the wrong way. This after landing the biggest fish, so far, in Jerome baker. If Ray Ray McCloud doesn’t choose UF, am I justified to be thinking the sky is falling?
