Banks not receiving pressure to join Florida Gators program

Defensive back Sevyn Banks (6-1, 180, Orlando, FL. Jones) visited the Florida Gators on Friday for the spring game and he accomplished two things at once while visiting.

Banks is the younger brother of current Gators safety Marcell Harris but he’s also a big time prospect so he was able to visit a potential school for a visit, plus see his family.

This was the third visit to Florida this spring, but Banks was able to see a few different things on Friday.

“It was a good visit, I saw a lot of different faces,” Banks said of his visit to Florida on Friday. “I had seen the same people every time I came out so I saw a lot of different faces, new students.”

Several Florida coaches are recruiting Banks to Gainesville including his area recruiter, receivers coach Kerry Dixon.

“I talk to Coach [Kerry] Dixon and [Ryan] Smith,” he said on whom he talks to from Florida. “They’re both pretty cool coaches. And I talk to Coach [Chris] Rumph sometimes, but he’s a pretty busy man.”

Banks talks to staffs all over the country, but he explained why he likes talking to the Gators coaching staff.

“They actually care about you, they’re not just texting you to come,” Banks said on his thoughts of the Gators coaches. “They want to actually know how you’re doing, how your grades are doing, how have you been working out. They’ve been respectful, and stuff like that.”

Dixon has been the main guy talking with Banks and he explained the message his receives from the Gators coach.

“Like I said he asks me how my grades are,” he said on what Dixon tells him. “I took the SAT and passed the SAT this weekend so will see what happens now.

Despite Harris playing in Gainesville already, he’s not putting any pressure on Banks to join the Florida Gators program.

“He just wants me to make my own decision,” Banks said on what Marcell is telling him. “He’s just been saying to enjoy the process. He’s not trying to pound me to go to Florida. Just make a good decision.”

This spring, Banks has seen his recruitment blow up and he says three schools are talking to him more than others.

“Notre Dame, LSU and Ohio State,” he said on who’s talking to him the most. “That’s good, they text me every day.”

Despite having so many offers, Banks says he doesn’t have a leader but he does know what he’s looking for in a potential school.

“No, I just have, I like everybody actually. I like everybody,” Banks said on who he likes and what will factor into his decision. “Whether I like them or not. Every school is going to have the same thing, it’s just whether I like them or not.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Banks says nobody leads but he does plan to visit Ohio State on April 15th. Florida is a school that if they really turn up the heat on Banks, would likely be in a great shape.
