Commitment No. 12 is in for the Florida Gators and it’s a big one, both literally and figuratively.
JUCO offensive lineman Branton Autry (6-4, 320, Coffeyville, KS C.C.) made the call for Florida on Wednesday morning after he had a long talk with offensive line coach Mike Summers on Monday.
“I just felt it was the right time in my heart,” Autry said of why he committed to Florida today. “I knew Florida was the place I wanted to be at so I decided not to wait.”
Autry, who is looking to redshirt this season at Coffeyville, will have three years left to play when he enrolls at Florida in January and the Gators will be hoping that he can play right away.
Playing right away is something that weighed heavy on Autry when he was making a decision.
“Coach Summers says they need me to come in and play early for them because they’re short on linemen,” Autry told GC on Tuesday before committing. “That’s on my mind big time because wherever I go I want to play right away. That’s huge to me and that’s the only thing I’m worried about.”
Now that Autry has committed to the Florida Gators the coaching staff has secured two offensive line commits with Autry joining Stone Forsythe (6-7, 331, Winter Garden, FL West Orange) who committed to Florida earlier this month.
GatorCountry.com will have much more on Autry’s commitment to Florida.
