Arizona quarterback gets Florida offer

The Florida staff has been actively offering quarterbacks for the Class of 2015 over the past several weeks. Picking up an offer from the Gators Wednesday was Brian Lewerke (6-1, 189, Phoenix, AZ Pinnacle).

“I called Coach (Kurt) Roper (offensive coordinator) and he gave the phone to Coach (Will) Muschamp who offered me on Wednesday,” Lewerke said. “Coach Muschamp was saying that he had seen my film and that he liked my presence in the pocket and my ability to move in the pocket.”

Lewerke obviously knows more about things on the west coast but he has been researching the Gators and is starting to familiarize himself with UF and the SEC East.

“I don’t know too much about Florida right now because I’m just learning about them,” Lewerke said. “I know they had a down year last year because of injuries but I’m definitely interested in them because they are a big time SEC school and nationally known school. It’s really an honor to get an offer from a big time school like that.”

The key in Lewerke’s recruitment will be coming up in the few months as he starts to take visits before he makes a summer decision.

“I definitely plan to visit Florida maybe in the next month or so,” Lewerke said. “I want to make my decision before my senior year so I want to take as many trips as I can soon. I plan to visit Duke and Ole Miss during my spring break. After that I plan to get to Michigan State and Florida.”

With the decision only months away the 2015 signal caller has one local team standing out as he gets ready for his east coast trip.s

“I would say right now that Arizona State is standing out,” Lewerke said. “But I’m definitely still looking all of my options no matter where they are. I’m not really concerned about distance because I just want to find that school that best fits me and gives me the best opportunity to succeed.”
