2015 TE excited to pick up a Florida offer

Not only is Will Muschamp’s football camp great for the staff to see current juniors, but it is also a chance for the staff to evaluate underclassmen.

One of the underclassmen that was in attendance on Saturday was 2015 Orlando (Fla.) First Academy tight end Garrett Williams who received good news after camp.

“After camp coach (Will) Muschamp called us into his office,” Williams said. “We were speaking with him for a while and he said he wanted me to know that they wanted to extend me an offer and that he was impressed by my skill set and what I showed at tight end today. They are also recruiting me as a BUCK linebacker in the 3-4 as well as tight end. He was telling me how they would use me at tight end kind of like an H-back and extended the offer to me.”

For the 6-foot-4, 223-pound Williams who already hit double digit offers, this one was an exciting one.

“(Florida) is an incredible program,” Williams said. “I live an hour and a half way and growing up around here with my dad playing at Florida State so I’ve always kind of been around the rivalry. So I know a lot about Florida already and always kind of wanted to get offered by them since the first time I realized I could be a college football player. So I started working on that and building relationships with the coaches and now I’m stoked today to finally get the offer.”

While Williams was working out, his father was on the field taking pictures and according to the 2015 tight end, his dad is OK with him at Florida.

“He likes it for me, he wants what’s best for me,” Williams said. “He wants the best for me and the best school for me and what God has planned for me. He definitely will be the best fan of whatever school I choose. If it’s here (Florida), he will be the biggest fan of here.”

Williams plans to camp at Alabama, Notre Dame and FSU this summer and may also return to Florida for Friday Night Lights.
