Gator Country

Contrary to all the Board Ops, all communication doesn’t come in the form of a post. Sometimes it even comes via e-mail, or—heaven forbid!—even snail mail.

Such as these:

Buddy: My wife heard you being interviewed on the radio this morning —I guess about your book --- in the interview you talked about how Shelley texted and telling players the muffins were in the oven-my wife said it was an awesome interview-would it be possible for you to post it on the Den?—G8orbill.

G8: Not certain which interview she heard, unless it was the long one with Pat Williams of Orlando, the author and former Magic man. If that’s it, I can’t get the interview to post it, but the part your wife heard was an oft-told story by our Franz Beard about Shelley Meyer and “The Muffin Man.” Franz says that Chris Rainey, a frequent visitor to the Meyer home, sometimes gets a text message from Shelley that the “muffins are on” and that the speedy running back makes his way to the Meyer home in a matter of minutes. It’s just another way Shelley helps parent members of the team. I don’t know this for sure, but I’ve heard that Franz has asked Chris to be sure and text him as well while the muffins are still warm.

Buddy: Kelly Cunningham (not her real name) will be on the cover of Playboy, and also will be the centerfold (Gator Maid). The former Gator student is living at the Playboy mansion. Tim Tebow refused to be photographed for Playboy’s All-American team, for religious reasons. I guess Kelly and Timmy won’t be hooking up! I guess I will have to check out my new issue of Playboy. Sorry Tim!—PBanks

PB: Hey, I respect Tim’s conviction. At the same time I understand your curiosity. I promise not to tell him about it.

Buddy: It was a pleasure to meet you last weekend in Gainesville at the UF game. I had a tremendous visit and it was great to get the opportunity to see Tim play live again, although he did not need to do too much in that game. The Gators certainly have an array of weapons on the offensive side of the ball and that bodes well for team success. I wanted to thank you for the copy of Gator Country Magazine. It made for interesting reading on my plane flight back to Philly. Very well thought out with interesting articles and a great format. I hope you have a wonderful fall and enjoy your football team. If I can ever be of assistance please touch base.
