RECRUITING: Ahmad and Family Enjoy Florida

 |  January 28, 2007

For Sterlington (LA) wide receiver Ahmad Paige, last week’s visit to Gainesville was all about getting to know the people. His second trip and an unofficial visit with his parents meant he could skip some of the academic presentations and other normal things while his parents got to see all of that. Paige came to Gainesville and just spent some time with the players and coaches.

Paige (6-2, 170) visited Florida officially for the game against South Carolina back in November. That was possibly the best crowd experience in America this year as the Swamp was rocking until the end with a close game won by the Gators.

Last week was a little more subdued but the list of big time players in attendance on the visit was a special one. Paige was familiar with his surroundings, so he used the time to get to know everyone. He enjoyed those he met.

“I had a good time,” Paige said. “David Nelson was my host. I just liked hanging out with the players. That was the best part. They were all pretty crazy. They stuck me with the party crew.”

Paige’s parents also liked what they saw, according to the speedy wide receiver.

“My parents liked it and really enjoyed themselves,” he said. “They really got to see about what classes were like. They were really intrigued by it all, they really liked it.”

Contrary to reports this weekend that had him visiting Alabama next weekend, Paige is still planning on visiting USC next weekend starting February 2. That visit has been in the works for a while although it moved back one week from a previous date. When he gets home, Paige will announce his commitment on Monday, February 5th. He has an idea of what he is looking for at his future college.

“I talked to my coaches and everything and I talked to Brady James last night and he told me not to make a decision on the coaches,” Paige said. “Coaches come and go. Wherever you feel the best, wherever you feel the most comfortable is the school you should go to.”

He is down to final three of Florida, USC, and Tennessee. In just about a week the four-star and US Army All-American will make one of the schools on that short list very happy.
