Embiid takes official visit with Gators

 |  October 28, 2012  |  0 Comments

Billy Donovan and the Florida basketball team hosted one official visitor this weekend, and it was a big one.

Gainesville (Fla.) Rock School center Joel Embiid took his fourth official visit this weekend. Freshman Michael Frazier hosted Embiid during his visit, one which he said he enjoyed.

“It was good,” Embiid said. “I liked it a lot. I liked the coaches, players, and campus. I like Florida.”

The 7-foot, 220-pounder was taken on a campus tour. That’s where his favorite part of the visit happened.

“I got to see the alligators,” Embiid said. “That was something I had never seen before. The campus was good, not dirty or anything. The facilities were big, and the practice gym was nice, and you can go in there and shoot whenever you want. I liked the weight room, too.”

While on the visit, Embiid was able to sit down with the coaching staff where they told him how he would be used at Florida.

“They told me they like me to play like a forward but be a center,” Embiid said. “They see me being a post-up guy but also shooting the ball. They said they would get me into some pick and rolls and also some pick-and-pops. They want me to handle the ball some, too.”

Embiid was able to spend time quite a bit of time with the players, and he said he particularly enjoyed the freshmen.

Next up for Embiid is a visit to Marquette. After that, he says he will make a decision.

“I don’t have any favorites at this time,” Embiid said. “After my visit to Marquette, I will make a final decision on which school I’m going to go to.”
