B.J. Taylor shines at Donovan’s camp

 |  June 29, 2012  |  0 Comments

Class of 2014 point guard B.J. Taylor caught the attention of the Florida basketball coaching staff after participating in the Gators' Team Camp last week.

“They’ve been in contact with me after the Gator camp,” Taylor said. “I’ve spoke with (UF) coach (Billy) Donovan and they’re showing strong interest."

Taylor was able to display his array of skills throughout the camp, which allowed him to standout to the Florida coaching staff.

“[Donovan] liked my court vision, command of the ball, ability to score in bunches and high basketball IQ,” Taylor said.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound point guard, along with his team, captured the championship at camp and Taylor believes he performed well in Gainesville.

“I would say my play was solid and consistent,” Taylor said. “I brought the same thing to the court every game which is playmaking and defense.”

It’s early in the recruiting process for Taylor, but the Orlando product has serious interest from Florida State, Cincinnati, Miami, Boston College and South Florida, along with a scholarship offer from Boston University.

Taylor took a visit to USF on June 21.

He claims he is “wide open”, but also acknowledged he plans on visiting Florida again sometime in the fall or during next season, whether it be to watch a practice or to attend a home game.
