Yeguete, Rosario out against Alabama
Sophomore power forward Will Yeguete suffered a concussion Saturday in a 75-70 loss to Tennessee, and Florida announced Sunday afternoon that he will not be available to play against Alabama.
Yeguete received 8-10 stitches on a cut just above his right eye after crashing into the stanchion beneath the basket in the first half Saturday, and he was diagnosed with a concussion after being knocked unconscious. It is his second concussion of the season after he suffered one against Ohio State on Nov. 15.
Meanwhile, teammate Mike Rosario will also miss Florida's game Tuesday with a hip pointer that sidelined him against Tennessee.
The Gators played with a short bench against the Volunteers for much of the game Saturday after Yeguete left the game with an injury. Rosario and redshirt freshman forward Cody Larson were both unavailable as Larson battled a stomach virus.
Larson is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday, but the Gators will have to find ways to overcome their short numbers on the road.
Alabama has problems of its own, after Anthony Grant indefinitely suspended three starters Saturday. Along with forward Tony Mitchell, who was already suspended indefinitely, the Crimson Tide could be without forward JaMychal Green and guards Andrew Steele and Trevor Releford.
Yeguete has averaged 4.5 points and 6.1 rebounds on the year, while Rosario is contributing 7.9 points per game off the bench.
