UF overcomes ugly start to win 64-60
Almost before they could blink, the Gators looked up at the scoreboard and found themselves down 16 points to the Ole Miss Rebels.
Ole Miss (13-7, 3-3 SEC) couldn’t miss in the first half, jumping all over Florida (16-4, 4-1 SEC) with an early 14-0 run and a perfect 6-6 shooting from the three-point line.
Somehow, the Gators managed to dig down deep and pull out a crucial 64-60 win over the Rebels, using their team defense to get back into things early in the second half to erase a 10-point deficit.
“Really what I wanted to try to do was just to talk to the guys about we’re going to be okay, it’s a 40-minute game and we’ve got to continue to keep staying the course and we’ll have a run,” coach Billy Donovan said on the ESPN2 broadcast. “I thought the second half, we did a much, much better job and our guys didn’t lose – even with all the shots they were making – they didn’t get down, they didn’t get frustrated, I think they realized the length of the game.”
