If Patric Young’s ankle was bothering him coming off a short turnaround, he sure didn’t show it. Neither did No. 14 Florida (17-4, 5-1 SEC) in a thrilling 69-57 win over Mississippi State (17-5, 4-3 SEC).
Young helped the Gators put things away with a monstrous dunk midway through the second half. After forcing a steal, Mike Rosario dribbled up the court and fired a pass to Erving Walker on his left for a wide open three. Walker’s shot came off the front iron, but Young launched up and slammed it home with one hand as the crowd roared to life.
“The ball was right there and missed and came right there and I just threw it down,” Young said. “I just got really excited when I threw that one down. I’ve been waiting for my tip dunks all year.”
