The Florida Gators basketball season opener against the Georgetown Hoyas featured a unique atmosphere with sailors and high-ranking military personnel mixing with fans from both schools.
The game was cancelled at halftime for safety concerns after condensation began to build up on the court for the Friday game, which began at about 9:10 p.m. at the Naval Station Mayport.
Florida led 27-23 at halftime, but the game officially will not count as a win or lose. That didn’t matter to the sailors in attendance.
Gator Country’s Mike Capshaw was there with his camera to capture all of the atmosphere from around the game and has filed more than 150 images in this gallery.
