As a magna cum laude graduate of Kenyon College Shaka Smart had some explaining to do when he made his first career choice. He wanted to pursue his dream of coaching basketball and while his mother understood and gave him her blessing, there were some professors at Kenyon that just couldn’t understand why he would want to coach basketball when he the academic background to open just about any door in so many lucrative and highly competitive professions.
