Mitchell leaving Gator Hoops team

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore forward Jonathan Mitchell (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) will transfer from the University of Florida men’s basketball team.

“Jonathan is an outstanding individual and a terrific person,” said University of Florida head coach Billy Donovan. “I would like to help Jonathan and his family in anyway possible to ensure the best for his future, both academically and athletically.”

Mitchell averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds this season in 35 games with one start. He registered a career-high 15 points and was 3-of-3 from three-point range in a win over Temple on Dec. 30. Mitchell grabbed a career-high seven rebounds against Vermont on Nov. 30. For his career, he played in 65 games with one start.
