Gators going one practice at a time

There has been a lot of talk around the SEC for the past week about teams playing on short turnarounds, and the Gators are about to get more than their fair share over the next two weeks of conference play.

Florida will travel to Ole Miss on Thursday before returning home for a Saturday tip against Mississippi State. The following week, the Gators will face a six-day stretch that includes games against South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Kentucky.

Billy Donovan admits coaches can sometimes panic and try to prepare too far in advance when there’s little rest in between games, but he’s getting Florida to focus on one game at a time.

“I always think it is difficult for a team to start incorporating things inside of practice for a team you are playing the following game, so we really stay away from doing that,” he said. “I think that when you can make your preparation somewhat simple for those guys and focus on the key ingredients that are going to go into playing Ole Miss, (then) when that game is over with, there will be some time, although it’s is quick, to be prepared to play Mississippi State.”
