Gators can’t quite catch the ‘Cats

NEW ORLEANS – The Gators simply never could figure out the equation this season as it relates to beating the No. 1-ranked Kentucky men's basketball team.

Despite a late, furious rally by Florida, in which junior forward Erik Murphy scored nine of his game-high 24 points in the final 4:10 of game play, the Gators (23-10) could not avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of Kentucky in SEC play this season, as the Wildcats (32-1) scored a 74-71 victory on Saturday afternoon in the SEC Tournament semi-finals at New Orleans Arena.
