The Florida Gators cruised to an 84-35 victory against Alabama State in their first official basketball game of the 2012-13 season.

Senior Kenny Boynton, playing point guard in place of the suspended Scottie Wilbekin, scored a game-high 22 points on 8 of 10 shooting, including 4 of 4 from three-point range. Junior Patric Young had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
