The season is only four games old and the grind of the Southeastern Conference won’t begin for another six weeks so it’s a bit premature to give this Florida basketball team a defense first label, but since they’ve won their first four games with that same M.O. of defense, rebounding and toughness, we can at least say the Gators are in the habit-forming stage. If they keep this up, defense, rebounding and toughness might become a full-fledged habit, quite a contrast to the past two seasons when the Gators tried to shoot their way out of trouble and had a tendency to back down against teams that got the least bit physical.
