Florida Gators in the NBA: 12/12/12
Nine players currently average a double-double in the NBA. A third of those players (David Lee, Al Horford, and Joakim Noah) can all say they played collegiately at the University of Florida. In addition to the three previously mentioned 10 former Gators have continued their playing careers in the NBA and have been in action for nearly two months.
Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards
Beal had one of the best weeks of his young career this past week. The rookie scored in double figures in all three of Washington’s games. He is averaging 11.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, and 2.2 apg through 18 games. Against Golden State on Saturday, December 8, Beal had a career-best six assists.
Matt Bonner, San Antonio Spurs
Bonner has played in 18 games for San Antonio this season, averaging 4.3 ppg and 2.5 rpg. Against Milwaukee on Wednesday, December 5, Bonner pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds.
Corey Brewer, Denver Nuggets
Brewer had an exceptional week for Denver last week. In four games, he averaged 17.3 ppg and led the team in scoring on one occasion. Brewer has played in every game for the Nuggets this year, averaging 11.7 pgg and 3.0 rpg.
Udonis Haslem, Miami Heat
Haslem has worked his way into the starting lineup for Miami, despite missing his first game of the season on Monday, December 10. The all-time leading rebounder in Heat history is averaging 3.8 ppg and 4.9 rpg this year. Against New York on Thursday, December 6, Haslem finished with 10 points, his third game this season scoring in double figures.
Al Horford, Atlanta Hawks
Horford is on a tear as of late, recording six-straight double-doubles. For the year, Horford is averaging 16.8 ppg and 10.2 rpg. He is currently eighth in the NBA in rebounding.
David Lee, Golden State Warriors
Like Horford, Lee is also on a hot-streak with four-straight doubles-doubles. In addition, Lee has scored at least 20 points in each of those games. He is averaging 18.8 ppg and 11.2 rpg. Lee is currently fifth in the league in rebounding.
Mike Miller, Miami Heat
In 17 games, Miller is averaging 4.0 ppg and 2.4 rpg for Miami. Last week, he scored 13 points and pulled down seven boards in three games.
Joakim Noah, Chicago Bulls
Noah is the third former Gator on a streak of consecutive double-doubles, with a streak of four-straight. He leads the Bulls in rebounds (10.8 rpg), steals (1.4 spg), and blocks (2.3 bpg) on the year, as well. Noah is sixth in the league in rebounding. Against Detroit on Friday, December 7, he scored a career-high 30 points.
Chandler Parsons, Houston Rockets
One of the biggest surprises in the league this season, Parsons is averaging 15.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and 3.5 apg for Houston. He has scored at least 18 points in the past two games and recorded his fifth double-double of the year against Dallas on Saturday, December 8.
Marreese Speights, Memphis Grizzlies
Speights continues to be a fixture on one of the best teams in the league, playing in every game for Memphis this year. He is averaging 5.7 ppg and 4.7 rpg in 18 games.
