Florida basketball owns No. 2 defense

Facing Marquette in a Sweet 16 rematch from last season, the Florida Gators embarrassed the Golden Eagles in an 82-48 win Thursday to extend their winning streak to six games.

For the second time this season, the Gators flexed their Patric Young sized muscles on a probable NCAA Tournament team. The Gators overwhelmed Wisconsin 74-56 back on Nov. 14.

Coming into the year, questions surrounded this team about how successful it would be, especially with the departures of Erving Walker and Bradley Beal. A preseason No. 10 ranking had many doubters the Gators were that strong.

However, this year’s team hasn’t missed a beat and a big reason has been its stingy defense. The Gators are 6-0 and have moved up to No. 7 in the Associated Press Top 25.
