ShareFlorida advances to Elite Eight with 68-58 win over Marquette
The Gators played near-perfect games in the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament, but Florida had a few rough spots against Marquette in the Sweet 16.
It didn’t matter.
After putting together another superb all-around performance, the No. 7 Gators (26-10, 10-6 SEC) downed the No. 3 Golden Eagles (27-8, 14-4 Big East) 68-58 to reach the Elite Eight for the second straight season.
“We're a lot younger and a lot different and play a lot different than we did a year ago,” coach Billy Donovan said. “I think it's a great compliment to [our] guys and how hard they've worked, the schedule that we've played, them wanting to learn and grow and get better. I'm very proud and very happy that we've been able to move on this far in the tournament.”
