ShareFINAL: Florida 82, Marquette 49
The No. 7 Florida Gators’ defense dominated from the opening tip en route to a 82-49 victory against the Marquette Golden Eagles at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center late Thursday night.
Florida, which improved to 6-0, forced Marquette (5-2) to commit shot-clock violations to open the first and second halves.
Both times Erik Murphy, who left in the second half with an injury, capitalized with a bucket on the other end. First with a jump hook to open the game’s scoring and then with a running one-hander in the lane to make it 40-24 early in the second half.
