ShareErik Murphy’s status uncertain for FSU
Florida Gators forward Erik Murphy has not been practicing since suffering a “hip pointer” during Thursday’s 82-49 win against Marquette at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.
The 6-foot-10, 228-pound junior has not officially been ruled out for Wednesday’s 7 p.m. game at Florida State.
Rest is the only remedy for what Florida basketball coach Billy Donovan described as a “bad hip pointer” on Monday. A hip pointer is a contusion (bruise) on the pelvis that can be caused direct blow, according to a medical website. Rest, ice, compression and elevation are the best remedies because the bone and overlaying muscle often are bruised.
