Zunino ‘honored’ to be No. 3 pick

Florida junior catcher Mike Zunino was named one of three finalists for the Johnny Bench Award, but that wasn’t his biggest news on Monday.

Zunino was the third overall pick by the Seattle Mariners in the 2012 MLB Draft on Monday night.

Zunino spoke with media during a conference call after becoming the highest Gators player ever drafted. The previous highest UF player selected was pitcher Jim Burke at No. 6 in the 1991 draft.
