UF ready for USC, not feeling pressure

Florida (47-18) will begin the 2012 College World Series where the 2011 one ended for the Gators, with an opening game against two-time defending national champion South Carolina (45-17) at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.

The Gamecocks have ripped off 21 straight wins in the NCAA Tournament, and the Gators are well aware just how clutch South Carolina has been on college baseball’s biggest stage. They know it’ll take that type of effort if they hope to knock the champs off their perch.

“They made great plays,” coach Kevin O’Sullivan said at a Thursday press conference in Omaha. “Obviously we were disappointed, but that's what championship teams do. It's as simple as that. They rise to the occasion.”
