If the Florida Gators were looking for ways to end their hitting slump, they don’t need to look much further than Tuesday night’s game.

Samford (34-19) put on a hitting clinic against Florida (38-15) in a 12-7 win, racking up 15 hits on the Gators, the most the nation’s No. 3 team has given up all year.

“Obviously we didn’t get off to a great start pitching-wise,” coach Kevin O’Sullivan said on the Gator Radio Network. “The thing that really, really hurts is we finally started swinging the bat there in the middle of the game. We scored five runs there in the fifth, six and seventh and we turned around and gave up five in return. We just could not seem to put a zero on the board.”
