ShareReds draft Daniel Pigott in 9th round
The defensive prowess Daniel Pigott displayed after moving to center field this season certainly increased his MLB Draft stock. The Florida Gators' senior was taken in the ninth round with the 292nd overall selection by the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.
Pigott's name being called so early was a surprised as most draft pundits pegged the speedster as a late-rounder, meaning he wasn't expected to be drafted until Wednesday.
However, Pigott has shined since moving to centerfield early in Southeastern Conference play when starter Tyler Thompson suffered a season-ending injury against Vanderbilt. He's also been a consistent hitter and is leading the team with a .321 batting average.
