ShareGators top Hogs 3-2 in series opener
Arkansas pitcher Ryne Stanek (L 6-3, 2.52 ERA) worked five hitless innings and looked to be cruising to an easy win with the Florida bats lifeless in the first game of the weekend series.
Then Preston Tucker spoiled his no-hitter with a leadoff single in the bottom of the 6th, and the wheels fell off for Stanek as Florida (33-10, 12-7 SEC) plated three runs in the inning to top Arkansas (29-13, 9-10 SEC) 3-2.
“We needed some hits,” second baseman Casey Turgeon said. “You start off the inning with a shot out in left field, and everyone after that just became real loose in the dugout and decided we should start hitting the ball now.”
