Crawford’s no-hitter fuels Florida’s win

Florida sophomore pitcher Jonathan Crawford tossed a no-hitter in powering the Gators to a 4-0 win in their Gainesville Regional opener at McKethan Stadium on Friday night. / Gator Country photo by Saj Guevara

As a freshman, he made just five appearances on the season. He threw just 3.2 innings and finished with an Earned Run Average pushing five runs per game.

When the team made it to Omaha, Neb., to play for the College World Series, he didn’t make the trip.

“Last year, how smart I am, we left him off of the roster in Omaha,” coach Kevin O’Sullivan said. “It was a very tough decision, but it was one that we felt like needed to be made.”
