ShareBrian Johnson leads Gators to win
During the ride home from a Game 1 victory, roommates Brian Johnson and Mike Zunino discussed how to pitch to Vanderbilt hitters the night before Johnson’s start on Saturday.
Preparation paid off for Johnson, who tossed his best start this season, and for the Florida catcher in Zunino who called every pitch for the second game in a row.
Johnson (3-0, 3.16) matched a career high with nine strikeouts and carried No. 1 Florida (18-1, 2-0) to a commanding 5-1 victory vs. the struggling Vanderbilt Commodores (7-12, 0-2).
