ShareRed Sox draft Greg Larson in 20th round
The Gators had their fifth pitcher taken in the 2012 MLB Draft when the Boston Red Sox drafted Greg Larson in the 20th round with the 631st overall pick in the draft. Larson is the third Florida pitcher drafted by the Red Sox, joining Brian Johnson and Austin Maddox.
Larson, a senior right-hander, was taken in the 29th round by the Angels a year ago but opted to come back to Florida for his senior season to try to improve his draft stock.
Scouts like Larson’s size, despite the fact that he doesn’t have particularly good velocity on his fastball.
