HOOVER, Ala.- Receiver is a position that some are calling a strength for the Florida Gators heading into the season, but two key player’s statuses remain in question.

Receiver Antonio Callaway was cited for marijuana possession on May 13th and his status for the opening game against Michigan has been a topic of discussion.

Callaway hasn’t publically violated any team rules so a suspension isn’t mandatory but Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain didn’t want to commit one way or another on his status.

“So far, he’s been doing things that have been set forth for him,” McElwain said. “There’s a lot of things that a lot of guys have to do moving forward. And I mean, at this juncture, there’s no reason to even speculate.”

McElwain was further pressed to answer whether or not Callaway’s status is uncertain heading into the game but the Gators coach didn’t speculate any further.

“He’s going through some things right now and so far he’s been doing a good job,” McElwain said of Callaway.

The other receiver in question at the moment is freshman James Robinson who didn’t enroll with the rest of the signees in June.

McElwain didn’t go into detail about what the hold-up is for Robinson but did remain hopeful that the receiver would be able to enroll this fall.

“You know, that’s something that’s NCAA and a lot of that stuff,” McElwain said of Robinson. “ So we’ll see what happens there.”

Robinson could enroll after Summer B classes end this month and participate in fall camp if he gets cleared by the NCAA.
